“THE QUIET ONE”
He sat at the back with his head always low
A rust covered kid no one cared to know..
Old boots, no cash, and a busted guitar
But dreams in his chest that could outshine a star…
They mocked when he played in the rain and the heat
Called him a dreamer who’d never compete
She smiled with her friends, rolled her eyes just a bit
“He’s not really bad… just won’t ever hit”
He kept to himself, didn’t fight, didn’t beg
Just wrote out his lyrics while tapping his leg
No spotlight, no fans, not even a look
But music’s the thing that softened the noise
And gave him the courage to find his own voice…
Then one night, a band pulled out of a show
And the crowd was impatient, ready to go
The manager said.. “Hey, we’re short, you’re here…
You’ve got ten minutes, go face that fear”
He walked to the mic, wires tangled in hand
Shaking like hell, but he took a stand
First strum… silence
Second strum… boom
Then the whole bloody place lit up the room..
Eyes wide, jaws dropped, fists in the air
That nobody kid was suddenly there
He nailed, he roared, poured his soul through the strings
And played like he’d grown a set of goddamn wings…
And her?
Front row, nowhere to hide
Shock in her chest and her jaw open wide
The boy she once laughed at, wrote off with a smirk
Just rewrote the night and it bloody well worked…
He didn’t gloat, didn’t even glance
Just packed up his gear and skipped the dance..
But deep in her chest, a truth hit hard, the quiet one just played his card…
Now he tours the world, crowd after crowd
Playing his heart out, fierce and loud
What started in shadows is now overgrown
The Quiet One found his desire to tear it up with fire…
His name?
His band?
Yeah, you’ve probably heard the song
They call themselves The Quiet One
and the whole world sings along.
She laughed when he once asked her to dance.. Told her friends he didn’t stand a chance..
But now he plays while the whole crowd cheers..
And she’s just a face in the fading years..
