Throughout history, it has been common for soldiers to be buried where they fell or in burial grounds close to the battlefield. After learning about this I felt compelled to create the following which led to my story on this creation named: 
"Sacrifice in Silence"
On a desolate battlefield, a lone man stood by a weathered stone covered grave, his posture rigid as if frozen in time. His gaze intense and unwavering was fixed on the makeshift grave before him. To any onlooker it would seem as though he was mourning a fallen soldier or perhaps a friend lost to the horrors of war. 
But as the wind stirred the stillness something shifted. The figures face serene yet filled with ancient sorrow slowly tilted upward revealing a quiet understanding. The cross…weathered and worn had a single faint inscription: ‘Here lies the soldier, the soul of the battlefield.’
In that exact moment the truth became clear. The soldier was not human. He was an angel, standing not at the grave of a friend but at his own… mourning not the loss of another but the sacrifice he himself had made. The battle was long over and now he could finally rest. 
He was no longer the weary soldier who had fought many battles. He now felt light, free and filled with a profound sense of calm in this new life! There was no pain no fear no sorrow only peace…. ♥️
