They held me long before I could stand…
their hands both strong and soft…
carrying a love they were still learning to speak aloud.
I grew, wrapped in their quiet care…
caught between their hopes and the weight of passing time.
I stood between them… not yet a man, but ready to become one…
feeling their years rest gently on my shoulders…
When he left us…
she and I kept walking, side by side…
her hand in mine…
his memory walking quietly between us.
The silence was heavy, but we carried it together… each of us holding back our own sadness so the other wouldn’t feel more alone…
Now, I walk forward alone…
not lost, but full…
carrying their laughter, their lessons…
their love that lives deep inside me…
I see now what I couldn’t then…
how much they gave… how much they held back…
so I could move freely into a life they built with quiet sacrifice.
They were my beginning…
and everything I am is because of what they gave… 
This is not a story of endings…
but of beginnings…
of love passed down…
of strength found in memory…
and of a quiet promise to keep going…
for those who came before…
and those who will come after.
